Nerd Journal – The church/library in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

This is an experimental post. As I just closed my other blog, I’m expanding this into a general nerd blog. While the primary focus will still be on comics, this is a way to share my general nerdy thoughts. At least at first, there will be no general focus, format, or regular release schedule for the Nerd Journal. It might not even last that long. I’m just going to experiment with this for a while and see how it goes. and here’s my first post.

I recently went on vacation with my family in Italy. We spent a day in Venice and being the nerd that I am, I had to find the church/library that was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The building’s exterior, located in Venice, is called Church of San Barnaba. In the movie, the church was the library where Indiana found the knight’s tomb. The internal scenes were shot in a studio elsewhere, although I already knew that. The actual church is now used as an art gallery, which costs 8 euros to enter – I didn’t want to pay that, but I still managed to sneak this shot of the ceiling.

Looks quite different from the movie doesn’t it.

Anyway, that’s it for the first Nerd Journal post. I know it was short, but I have a longer one in the works. Next time, Replaying Dragon Age: Origins.

About healed1337

I am a relatively new comic book fan writing this blog for other new comic book fans and/or people who are interested in comics but don't know where to start. I've always been interested in writing, to the point where I have a college Creative Writing Certificate and I'm currently a year 2 Journalism student. I also have another blog where I mostly make fun of bad movies - www.healed1337.blogspot.com As for how I got into comics, I've always had a passing interest in superheroes: most notably Batman, Spider-man and the X-Men. Until February of 2011 (I think,) my only experience with any of these franchises came from the movies and video games. Shortly after I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 however, I decided to check out X-23, Wolverine's female clone. I ended up reading her Innocence Lost origin story and enjoyed it. From there, I started reading various X-Men comics and it quickly exploded into my newest hobby. My other interests/hobbies include video games, movies, music, playing sports, my dogs and weird news.
