Christmas Week 7 – The greatest Christmas movie of all time

What’s the best way to follow an utterly terrible Christmas movie? By watching the greatest Christmas movie of all time – Die Hard!

Nothing puts you in the Christmas mood like watching Bruce Willis kill a bunch of terrorists in a skyscraper while chanting “Yippee Kay yay”. Throw in a bunch of awesome one-liners and you have a recipe for a great holiday classic.

Die Hard isn’t truly a Christmas movie you say? How is it not? It takes place at an office Christmas party. It ends with the song “let it snow”. It has the immortal line,

“Now I have a machine gun, ho ho ho!”

It also brings John McClane back together with his wife, who lives thousands of miles away from him at the time. Their reconciliation screams of “I’ll be home for Christmas” without actually playing the song. Let’s ignore the fact that they eventually divorce, this movie has a happy ending.

Even if you don’t consider this a Christmas movie though, it’s still an awesome and influential action movie. I watch it every year around Christmas time – usually on Christmas Eve after my shift at work.

That’s all there is to say really. Merry Christmas everyone!

About healed1337

I am a relatively new comic book fan writing this blog for other new comic book fans and/or people who are interested in comics but don't know where to start. I've always been interested in writing, to the point where I have a college Creative Writing Certificate and I'm currently a year 2 Journalism student. I also have another blog where I mostly make fun of bad movies - www.healed1337.blogspot.com As for how I got into comics, I've always had a passing interest in superheroes: most notably Batman, Spider-man and the X-Men. Until February of 2011 (I think,) my only experience with any of these franchises came from the movies and video games. Shortly after I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 however, I decided to check out X-23, Wolverine's female clone. I ended up reading her Innocence Lost origin story and enjoyed it. From there, I started reading various X-Men comics and it quickly exploded into my newest hobby. My other interests/hobbies include video games, movies, music, playing sports, my dogs and weird news.
