As much as I’d love to write a review for this week’s excellent Journey Into Mystery this, I won’t have the time as more pressing matters are at hand. So instead, here’s a quick update on things.
As I’ve said several times before, I recently got back into fiction writing. Just a few days ago, I finished the second draft of the second story that I wrote in January, and it’s the longest thing I’ve ever written. As of now I’m fairly happy with it, even if it’s not ready to send into any publishers or agents yet. It’s ready for beta readers, but I’m only entrusting that to people I personally know. As for what this story, and this series, is about … I’m not ready to talk about that to the public yet. All I’ll say is that the one I just finished is a mix between fantasy and historical fiction.
I don’t know if I’ve talked about this on the blog before, but I generally prefer B-list and C-list characters over A-listers, if only because writers generally have more freedom for lasting character development with them. Some of these preferred B-listers are legacy characters of sorts. Since I’m taking at least a month off of fiction writing to refresh myself, I’m thinking of making September Legacy Character month, where each weekend I’ll post about a legacy character I prefer over the original for one reason or another.
I’m also strongly considering participating in this year’s National Novel Writing Month. If I do, I’ll probably post about some of my experiences there instead of full comic reviews. I’ll still be doing my first impression posts at the least, but it would be fun to do something different for a month. Please let me know what you think of this idea.
And at last, I’m running out of room for my comic/game collecting, so I’m currently sifting through a bunch of stuff I no longer want. There will likely be a video post about the stuff I’m selling in the next few days.
