Comics of March 1, 2017

It’s March 1st, which means that Logan is coming out this coming weekend. Well, it’s already out overseas, but … you know. I actually didn’t watch either of the other two Wolverine movies in theaters, but I’m going to make sure to see this one at least once. That’s not the only thing I’m looking forward to this weekend, but it’s the only one worth talking about on a comic blog. But now, it’s time to talk about today’s comic releases.

The comics I picked up include Monsters Unleashed 4, Hawkeye 4, Star Wars 29, Superman 18 and Batman 18. Here are my first impressions, and links to full reviews will be added when they’re posted. It’s a bit of a small week, sure, but after the crazy weekend I had and the fact that inventory is taking place tomorrow at work, it’s nice to have a small week.

Hawkeye 4 review

Batman 18 review

Monsters Unleashed 4 is fun. That’s basically what this entire event is, just dumb fun. There’s some good character stuff in this issue and some welcome cameos mixed in. Not sure what else to say about this event really. A bunch of space monsters attack Earth, and the Earth’s superheroes and monsters work together to hold them off. If that sounds good, you’ll probably enjoy Monsters Unleashed.

Superman 18 is good. It starts off with a fun celebration for Clark and Lois’s anniversary, but turns weird when a mystery guest shows up, and then things start disappearing. It’s hard to tell what’s going on at this point, save for who is likely responsible. This should be an interesting story arc though. This series is mainly a family drama about Superman, but with more than enough superhero action to still call this a superhero book. If that interests you, definitely check this series out.

About healed1337

I am a relatively new comic book fan writing this blog for other new comic book fans and/or people who are interested in comics but don't know where to start. I've always been interested in writing, to the point where I have a college Creative Writing Certificate and I'm currently a year 2 Journalism student. I also have another blog where I mostly make fun of bad movies - www.healed1337.blogspot.com As for how I got into comics, I've always had a passing interest in superheroes: most notably Batman, Spider-man and the X-Men. Until February of 2011 (I think,) my only experience with any of these franchises came from the movies and video games. Shortly after I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 however, I decided to check out X-23, Wolverine's female clone. I ended up reading her Innocence Lost origin story and enjoyed it. From there, I started reading various X-Men comics and it quickly exploded into my newest hobby. My other interests/hobbies include video games, movies, music, playing sports, my dogs and weird news.

I enjoyed the other Wolverine films, but very excited for Logan! I really liked Superman #18 as well, great issue, and excellent artwork as well. I’ve stopped reading Batman, I didn’t like the last Bane story, I Am Suicide, so decided to give I am Bane a miss – sounds like I’m not missing much. Have a great new comic book day!

Monsters Unleashed is still fun. Big dumb action, with bonus Awesome Lunella.

Hawkeye is great. Really fun. Julie Andrews team-up!
