There isn’t as much to talk about this week compared to last week. That’s mostly because I had to work Saturday, and on the weekend we’re switching from evenings back to mornings. Therefore, I felt like taking it easy on the one day I had off. But that’s not to say there’s nothing to talk about.
First off, my couches finally arrived on Tuesday. Yet I didn’t find the time to actually enjoy them until Friday night. I didn’t even spend the night at home on Tuesday. Spent the night back at my parents place for several reasons, one being my dad’s birthday, and another so I could give them some of the boxes I’ve unpacked from. My brother just got an apartment himself, so he needs those boxes.
Second, there’s one thing I forgot to mention in last week’s post. When I got my locks re-keyed, they locksmith commented that he recognizes the old house key I gave him. He says it’s likely that this place hadn’t been rekeyed in around 20 years. That’s potentially 20 years’ worth of keys floating out there that would have been able to enter this place. Well, that is until I got the place rekeyed. Maybe that’s a city mentality for me, and this is a smaller town that I’ve moved into, but still. He also cleaned the locks, which means they turn a lot better than when I first moved here. That alone made it worth it.
Third, as someone who worked in a grocery store for just over 12 years (which felt like 10 years too long), it feels weird being on the other side of the coin. Sure, I’d occasionally pick up groceries for my parents after a shift, but it’s different needing to grab them for myself at least once a week. That said, 12 years of grocery experience comes in handy with recognizing whether food prices are good or not. One glance is enough for me to know these things.
This last bit isn’t directly connected to being a homeowner, but I picked up a season’s pass to the local pool today, and had my first outdoor swim of the year (not to mention my first swim period in over a month). Today, I swam my first ever 1500m freestyle in a competition length pool. My stomach kind of hurt by the end of it, to the point where I delayed my supper for several hours, but overall it felt good. Also swam a 400m individual medley as a warm-up, a 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke and a 200m backstroke. So basically the longest distance swam for each type of individual event. And a 50m butterfly because when I started my first 200m fly attempt, my goggles filled up with water pretty quick, so I decided to start that one over after cleaning them out.
Anyway, that’s it for this week. I won’t be uploading any pictures because I haven’t done that much unpacking this week. Well, that and I need to finish figuring out how I’m going to pay each of these bills I’m responsible for. Most of them down, one to go. Hopefully I’ll find the time to do a lot more unpacking this coming week.
Sounds like you’ve been keeping yourself extra busy for quite some time. It’s nice to hear that there isn’t anything that is causing too many problems for now though. Hope you get to enjoy that couch more often soon!

I already got a chance to enjoy it after today’s swim, while watching a movie I’ve never seen before. With a shorter drive to and from work, I can finally find the time to catch up on this pile of un-watched movies I’ve gathered over the years.
