Comics of April 17, 2019

I’m in the middle of moving preparations, which means I don’t have much time to write a long introduction. Let’s get to this week’s comics. Today, I picked up War of the Realms 2 and Thor 12. Here are my impressions.

War of the Realms 2 is good. This issue is very action heavy, with a lot of characters involved. It’s nice to see Jane Foster get involved, as well as updating us on her fight with cancer. Beyond that, this issue is just chaotic. It makes for an entertaining issue, but there’s very little room left for character moments besides maybe Jane Foster. Still, if you enjoyed the first issue, you’ll likely enjoy this one, and there is at least a fair amount of story development within the action.

Thor 12 is great. This issue focuses almost entirely on Loki, immediately after being eaten by his Ice Giant father at the end of War of the Realms 1. It’s kind-of a character study for Thor’s mischievous brother who doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be anymore. If the next couple issues of Thor continue on this story, it could end up being really good. This is definitely worth picking up for Loki fans.

About healed1337

I am a relatively new comic book fan writing this blog for other new comic book fans and/or people who are interested in comics but don't know where to start. I've always been interested in writing, to the point where I have a college Creative Writing Certificate and I'm currently a year 2 Journalism student. I also have another blog where I mostly make fun of bad movies - www.healed1337.blogspot.com As for how I got into comics, I've always had a passing interest in superheroes: most notably Batman, Spider-man and the X-Men. Until February of 2011 (I think,) my only experience with any of these franchises came from the movies and video games. Shortly after I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 however, I decided to check out X-23, Wolverine's female clone. I ended up reading her Innocence Lost origin story and enjoyed it. From there, I started reading various X-Men comics and it quickly exploded into my newest hobby. My other interests/hobbies include video games, movies, music, playing sports, my dogs and weird news.

Have a good new comic book day. War of Ages sounds interesting, not read any comic book event or crossover for a long while though. Only got Star Trek Q conflict #3 today, fun to see the four major Star Trek crews and spacships teaming up in this story. 🙂
